Biography

Shirley Barenholz, a Dutch-Israeli freelance photojournalist and well-known photographer, was born and raised in Holland. She studied Journalism at the Academy of Journalism, Tilburg, Holland and Photography at the Cultural Center of Arts, Breda, Holland and at the International Center of Photography, New York, and was selected on portfolio to attend the prestigious Eddie Adams Workshop, New York.
Based in Amsterdam she directs reportages for Dutch Jewish Broadcaster ‘Joodse Omroep’ and works on different photography projects around the world.
Her photos have been published in several international magazines and books and in 1998 she published her first photo-book Children of Hope and had a selection of these photographs exhibited in the Jewish Historical Museum in Amsterdam.
Other works include: 
photobook of Dutch singer Marco Borsato (2002), photo-assignments for humanitarian organizations like Warchild, Unicef, Foster Parents, children’s magazine SamSam (sponsored by Dutch ministery of international development).

In 2006: ‘Open Eye – Open I’ at Ifa-gallery in Berlin, Germany [multi-media installation: photography and work from Israeli artists]

“Open Eye – Open I” is her first full-length film.

Srugim is touring US in May 2010. Second season to be premiered in NY.
